When I was about 6 I used to ask my dad to draw pictures of my Knightrider car. He’d do them from the side on, and even though he says he can’t draw, I thought they were amazing (remember gasping when I saw them). He left gaps between the chassis and the wheels, and when I asked why they were there, he said “because thats how it is”. Because it was just a toy, and so you could literally see right through the car just above the wheels. I wonder if this sewed the seeds of my drawing style in that I draw what I see, rather than re-interpreting it or drawing what I think I see. In a way, this way of thinking influenced my interest in psychology as well, trying to see what is there rather than being too influenced by your own imagination.
Later, when I was 8 years old I was inspired by a teacher called Mrs Dennehy who brought in a drawing she’d done of a wine glass and bottle. I thought it was incredible, so that’s what set me off.
I’ve put these here only because I think it’s quite fun seeing how a particular style develops.

Awesome drawings! Great to see your progress over the years, even your first drawing of the bottle and glass is fantastic. My favourites are (from when you were 11-14) Robocop with all the detail and that dog – the emotion on her face with her ears down is brilliant. Glad that you are back drawing, you have great talent.
