A birthday gift for a friend (this is her son, aged 4). In a facebook photo he was wearing a Superman t-shirt with the caption ‘my superman’. She’s a very talented singer-songwriter-musician whose music I once fell in love with, and had been going through a tough time for various reasons so I wanted to do something a little different. Sometimes when doing sketches I lose all objectivity and have no confidence as to whether the person will like it, but happily her reaction was something I’ll never forget.
