Granddaddy Johnson

When I was in Atlanta in ’12 and ’13, Robyn and I would go and see her granddaddy every sunday. He had dementia, and was in a home. He wouldn’t talk much, but when he did it was usually to reciprocate “I love you too!” to Robyn or groan “goddamnit”. I grew attached to him through those visits, and loved to see Robyn’s interaction with it. Her unconditioned love for him never wavered at all, and it was inspiring to see. Sadly he passed away in October ’13, and this was a gift to her family.
